Dutch police arrest the theft successfully after many months. The success of the police was also thanks to the help of Google Street View.
“This is the first time Google Street View to help us complete the criminal investigation in the Netherlands. For us, this is very unique,” said police spokesman Paul Groningen Eidanus, as quoted through the Telegraph, on Monday (22/6/2009).
Ago in September, a youth aged 14 years came to the police station Groninger, and confess that he had robbed. Two robbers was stealing money worth 165 euros and a mobile phone when the youth was walking with his bike.
Several months later, precisely in March, young people who become victims of it are called back to get information. Before the arrest the suspect, the police and Eidanus first request to Google, so they play back the images recorded through a successful camera Google Street View. From there, the youth also confirm that the two men in the picture is two robbers who has been stealing money.
Finally, the police Groninger also capture the second person. Unfortunately, the police refuse to publish the identity of the thief.
Since the slide 2007, Street View has been accessible in 100 major cities in the world.
