Sometimes, when we are doing defrag our hard disk, a message appears
“Error Defragmenting Drive C, Windows can not finish defragmentting this drive because it has encountered a problem. Click Help and carry out the instructions for running Scan Disk, and then try defragmenting again..“
After that, the defrag process stops.
Do not immediately panic! I follow the advice given on the Windows error message was, namely, run Scan Disk to check the condition of the hard drive. Once the disk scan is complete, try to defrag again.
Now, if the suggestions have been run Windows, but the hard drive is still unwilling in-defrag, follow these tricks.
- Click [Start] [Settings]> [Folder Options ...].
- Select the tab [View], and then click the option [Show all files].
- Press the [OK] to exit from the windows “Folder Options”.
- Click [Start] [Find] [Files or Folders].
- Type “applog” in the column “Name”, and in the combo box “Look in:” select the drive [C].
- Check the box [Include subfolders].
- Do a search by clicking on the [Find now].
- After the search ends, delete all the files found (except the folder C:-Windows-applog) and then double click the folder and delete the applog entire contents of the folder in it.
- Close the search window and run the Disk Defragmenter again.
