Already two years since Intel introduced the great Core 2 Duo processor. Today, Intel officially introduced the new generation desktop microprocessor, Core i7 (previously known by code name of the Nehalem). This new CPU faster than the Core 2 Duo, even ordained as the fastest CPU available at this time.
Core i7 launched in three versions Quad-core target for the three segments of the different desktop PC market. The first is the basic model 920 (2.66 GHz) with the official price of U.S. $ 286. The second model is 940 2.93 GHz with a price of U.S. $ 562, while the third model is the 965 Extreme Edition 3.2 GHz with a price of U.S. $ 999.
Seen from the price, Core i7 is not cheap. However, if you want to create a PC with a Core system i7, you have to pay expensive. For the system, your options are currently limited to the motherboard with Intel’s X58 chipset (with ICH10 Southbridge) and DDR3 memory. Prices are not cheap both.
However, this new processor offers several new features, among other controls memory and integrated of the new Turbo. Hyper threading also appear again, adding to the four cores virtual four-core physical CPUs in the Core i7.
Mode Turbo, which is called Dynamic Speed Technology, allows the CPU to turn the core and increase the clock speed, which can be useful in applications that require long more megahertz, not the core of many more. In the multiple-Threaded applications, the CPU will balance the load on the entire core.
This new CPU has 731 million transistors die in one square millimetres-sized 263. All i7 Core processor is designed thermal design power at 130 watts. Quick Path Interconnect interface provides the bandwidth of 19.2 seconds in the pre giga transfer models 920 and 940, and 25.6 giga transfer the Extreme Edition model.
