Splinter is a super sport car which made of wood.
The idea was born from the brilliant tuner Joe Harmon Design students and North Carolina State University. They work together to build a sports car body that is made of wood.
The entire body is made by hand to mix and chassis. And to get the power of extremes, it use twin supercharged engine valves from 32 Cadillac Northstar V8. It is able to spew spur power of 700 hp (522 kW).
One problem that appears when creating a wooden car that is the effect of a heat engine to the body. But the problem has solved with move to the cylinder head slightly down, in addition to the exhaust pipe to be made to the wing behind the car.
Not only exterior, interior car was made of wood. Even headrest and the seat are given a number of carvings. Not steady. There is no information whether the car is planned to be produced or if the same insurance policies of companies like aviva would apply, but the students have succeeded in stealing the public’s attention on the International Woodworking Fair in Carolina some time ago.
