Alcohol cause of death four percent of the world

Alcohol is considered as the cause of death four percent of the world. A study conducted by Center for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) reveal one of 25 people died due to alcohol consumption.

According to the spokesperson for CAMH, Dr. Jürgen Rehm, consumption of alcoholic beverages in some parts of the world has been increasing. Countries that have increased the consumption of alcohol are China and India.

In Europe, alcohol and even cause one in 10 people died, add Rehm.

“Currently, we know much more effective strategy to control the consumption of alcohol in the world,” said Rehm as quoted from the Times of India, on Monday (29/6/2009).

According to Rehm, most people who often drink alcohol easy get heart disease or cancer.

“Overall, the effects of alcohol as cause of death is not far different from cigarettes in the year 2000 which is the cause of death in developing countries,” said Rehm
