How to prevent Jet Lag when travelling far abroad

Traveling with the aircraft allows you to reach the corners of the world far only in a few hours. But across the region with a different time can disrupt sleep patterns and eating you, until you have jet lag.

Jet lag is the situation or condition of fatigue, digestive disturbances, headache, and insomnia that occur simultaneously.

Travel from east to west have a greater risk than travel from west to east. Meanwhile, travel to the north or south does not cause jet lag because you do not cross the time.

To keep flying fun, the following are some tips to prevent jet lag when traveling far abroad:

When departing:

  • Three nights before departing, change the time you sleep and eat. If you travel to the east, the future one hour earlier for each time the region will be skipped and not eat on the day of departure. However, if you travel to the west, the future of an hour more protracted time for each region that will be passed and do not eat until noon on the day of departure.
  • During the flight, avoid consuming sleeping pills, alcohol and caffeine. Drink water or juice as much as possible to avoid dehydration, because the air in planes is very dry.

When in Destination:

  • If you arrive at your destination by day, plan to spend time outdoors. Try to spend as much time outside your home region as much as the time passed.
  • Choose foods that have high protein as a lunch menu. Meanwhile, for dinner you can choose foods that have high carbohydrate.
  • Try not to sleep until late into the night.
